Streaming files are viewed or played AS you download them, instead of
having to wait for the entire file to download before you can view or
listen to them. The site will usually give you a choice of 28k, 56k, or T1
files to tailor the streaming media to your internet connection. 28.8k and
56k are tailored for those dialup modem speeds, while T1 files are
tailored to high speed internet connections.

Minimum recomended system requirements for these players are a 28.8k
connection or higher, and a Pentium class processor or higher. The

versions of the players (Realplayer 5.0 or higher), and that they are
configured correctly for your use. You may have to check with your System
Administrator for this.
